Pyjama day

Today Sophie woke up extra early to get ready for Pyjama Day at the Early Learning Centre. We had purchased new pjs for the event and agreed to wear them for the first time today. She was so excited about today, especially since she has the 'Special Box' (for show and tell) and is the designated 'special helper in the classroom for this week. When I ask Sophie "what's the most interesting thing you did today at ELC?' Her reply is always, "every thing is interesting".

Whilst driving home from ELC today, I asked Sophie about her pyjama day. She had a great day and also mentioned that her friend Jack forgot to wear his pyjamas then quickly added, "mum, Jack's a sensitive guy so he didn't mind".

Dinner with Granny and Pa

Last night, we invited Granny and Pa over for dinner. The drinks started with mango beer all the way from Western Australia. The first beer I've tasted that I like. Then we all enjoyed a cholesterol free meal selected by Adam, risoni and atlantic salmon. Yum! We later had some lemon delicious pudding and vanilla bean ice cream and I'm sure you will be surprised to hear that Adam refused the ice cream and requested a 'small serve' of dessert. Adam later prepared his new drink of choice - soy lattes for our visitors. It was a relaxing night where we stayed cosy by the fire.

The boys enjoyed being 'tested' on their knowledge of AFL players from their treasured football card albums (photo taken by Sophie).

Haircuts!

After school today, we managed to try out a new barber and BOTH boys had haircuts! Hardly newsworthy you may think, but the boys have been reluctant to have their hair cut for some time and with the recent lice outbreak at school, I (the chief delouser in our house) thought it was a much needed event. I think the reward of two packets of football cards afterwards assisted my efforts of persuasion. The boys are both pleased with their new hairstyles.

Yesterday, we celebrated a lovely Mother's Day with many thoughtful cards and gifts from the school Mother's day stalls. Sophie was particularly excited about the day and has been making me 'early' Mother's Day cards for weeks. I was 'presented' with a variety of gifts, some of which she described as 'the most useful' (a folding shopping bag). The boys were very helpful setting the table for lunch. Adam cooked a beautiful pumpkin soup for lunch (vegetarian, of course). Oh yes, you will all be shocked to hear that my beloved meat eating, cream loving husband has made a significant dietary change in his life. For the past week, he has been on a diet free of animal fats due to a high cholesterol result. He is hoping to reduce his cholesterol over the next couple of months.

In the evening, we organised a Mother's Day dinner at a Chinese restaurant with mum, dad and Matt. It was a relaxed way to spend Mother's Day (so relaxed that I forgot to bring the camera!).

Monday

Today Patrick arrived home with an 'Aussie of the Week' award which was presented at the school assembly. The award was for "always doing above and beyond what is expected of him". We are very proud of our Pat.

James arrived home and started chewing on a mintie from Sophie's party bag and the mintie did a good job of taking out his first molar. Hopefully the tooth fairy will visit tonight.

Sophie had a great day at pre-prep and received her long awaited class photos. She is very tired tonight after a late night last night saying goodbye to uncle Paul before he embarks on his overseas trip. We are not sure when he will be back and will miss him a lot.
