Pool complete!

It is the middle of winter and our pool is finally complete. As James wanted to be the first one in the pool, he took a brave jump in yesterday and climbed straight out (water temperature was 15 degrees!). He had an audience of family members too while we celebrated my nan's birthday.

We are all counting down until the warm weather begins. That's when I will have my first swim. For now, I am enjoying the lovely view out of my kitchen window.

The view we had a few months ago...

Just add water..

We are getting there...just in time for winter! The pool has come along in the past few weeks with the turf laid and glass fencing part way installed. It is all coming together we are very pleased with the result. We are looking forward to seeing the pool filled. Although, with the storm here last night and 100 mm of rain, we now have a 'wading pool'.

What a great weekend!

James had a GREAT weekend. It all started on Friday night when we went out for a family dinner together (he ordered his all time favourite - sushi). We then visited the Apple store where he used his birthday money to purchase a mini Ipad.

On Saturday, he played exceptionally well in basketball, scoring 14 points for his team and his team won 36 to 12. He spent the rest of the day with Tyson and Dom, a takeaway dinner at home and then out to a friend's to watch Essendon defeat Richmond.

Sunday morning began with a hearty breakfast of eggs and toast in preparation for the big Jets football match against Croydon. The good breakfast paid off with James scoring one goal and two points for the team! The Jets won 85 to 51.

While Pat was at a friend's party and Sophie and I at an 'Alice in Wonderland' ballet performance, James and Adam visited Grandma K to report on his football match. She loved hearing about the football.

Another dinner with friends on Sunday night and our weekend was complete. Now James and Pat need an early night in preparation for the District Cross Country tomorrow. Adam and I are enjoying a little down time today until the activities begin again this afternoon.

Mother's Day

I had a lovely Mother's Day. The children presented me with beautiful hand made cards and then gifts from the school mother's day stall. James and his football team won their game against Norwood followed by  afternoon tea at our place with the family. The end of the day was very relaxing because I did not have to prepare dinner. The children had chosen a main and dessert recipe and prepared a wonderful meal (with a little guidance from dad)- fettucine with roasted cherry tomatoes, ricotta, spinch and pecorino followed by berry pies and ice cream. It was delicious!

Cross Country Stars!

Today, James and Patrick participated in the inaugural school Cross Country. Patrick's age group ran for 2kms and James' for 3kms. They both performed very well with James coming 8th in his age group and Patrick coming 10th in his age group!

Both boys were very pleased with their efforts as their place (top ten) means they have an opportunity to compete in the District Competition.

Sophie also ran very well in the 700 metres Prep Cross Country this week followed by her debut performance for Aerobics. She was very confident considering there were over 500 spectators.
We are all sleeping very well in our house these days!

Tiling is complete!

Today, we awoke to see the builders removing the bright blue cover that has covered our pool for weeks. We can now see the beautiful glass mosaic tiles that we chose months ago. They are a brilliant blue with the sunlight on them and blend beautifully with the blue sky. It was a marathon effort for the tilers and we now look forward to seeing the project complete.

Sophie's surprise

When Sophie arrived home today, she told me that she had a 'surprise' to show. It was her first Bronze Certificate for Mathletics. She started working on the mathletics website last weekend and loved it (a lot more enthusiastic than her brothers I might add!). Good work Soph!
